A NIGHT FOR THE LADIES

Decked in pink and black, Morris K9 Campus was transformed from an agility and training facility into a spa and shopping center last Friday night, 2/24/12. With vendors galore, a Tricky Tray, K9 games, treadmill trots for energetic pooches, and a caricaturist drawing images of willing pets, there was a little something for everyone! If you weren't able to attend our event to benefit Dress for Sucess Morris County, here are some of the highlights!

We would also like to thank all of our vendors for making the event as enjoyable as it was, Alora Ambiance Spa for providing massages, hair flairs and manicures, The Garlic Rose for donating their absolutely delicious eggplant rollatini, Morris Animal Inn groomers for stenciling and painting dogs' nails, the talented caricaturist and all of the women and their dogs that attended. We were blown away by the amount of clothes, shoes and handbags donated to Dress for Success Morris County from our wonderful attendees!!

Calling all ladies and their furry companions!

Join us at Morris K9 Campus for an exiciting new event, Gals & their Furry Pals!

This Friday night from 6:30PM to 9PM, Morris K9 Campus, sister company of Morris Animal Inn, is celebrating the sweet and unbreakable bond between women and their dogs. Seriously, who says dog is man's best friend?! We beg to differ!

Ladies, if you have a dog, you won't want to miss this event! With pampering provided by the Alora Ambiance Spa in Boonton, NJ, you can be sure you will be spoiled. Also, groomers from Morris Animal Inn will offer pawdicures for your dog with a neat selection of colors. Why not have your nails manicured next to your dog?!

A host of vendors will provide enough for you to shop until you drop, from Mary Kay cosmetics, to Scentsy Candles to Tastefully Simple's easy-to-prepare foods and gifts.

K9 games and treadmill trots will entertain your pooch and keep them occupied!

Rounding out the night will be our Tricky Tray to raise money for Dress for Success Morris County. Dress for Succes is an organization that provides both professional attire and important career development support, free of charge, for disadvantaged women. We encourage attendees to bring women's professional attire in excellent condition including women's business suits, skirts, blouses, pants, blazers, jewelry, pocketbooks and gently worn shoes to donate to Dress for Sucess Morris County.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Malachy

The Pekingese, Malachy stole the show Tuesday night. Winning "Best in Show" at the 2012 Westminster Kennel Club, this veritable fuzzball half-waddled half-floated his way to victory. This is the first win for the Pekingese since 1990 and the fourth overall Best in Show win for the breed in the history of the show.

Now what?  What happens to a dog after they win this coveted prize?

If you are Foxcliffe Hickory Wind, the Scottish Deerhound and 2011 winner, you are now a famous Mommy to nine beautiful healthy puppies! Hickory was the first Scottish Deerhound to win the title of Best in Show for her tall, leggy breed. When not reveling in the joys of motherhood, Hickory can often be found exploring and running on the grounds of her family farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

If you are the 2010 winner, Sadie, the Scottish Terrier, motherhood also becomes your next path! Sadie, short for, Ch. Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot gave birth to five pups last March. She can often be found snuggling with her best pal, Chihuahua, Tad, watching Animal Planet and munching on hot dogs.

Stump, the Sussex spaniel and 2009 winner, was the oldest dog to win Best in Show at ten years old. Now at the ripe old age of 13, Stump enjoys the quieter aspects of life, (now that his hearing is mostly gone) like lounging on the couch with his best friend J.R the Bichon Frise and 2001 winner. (It must be quite a treat to live in a house with two Best in Show winners!)

After Uno, the Beagle and 2008 winner, won the title of Best in Show, he "threw" the first pitch, rode on a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade float and visited the White House. Since then, Uno has taken it down a notch and lives his life like a regular dog.

Bestow some love on the local shelters in your area by donating a monetary donation in your dog’s name or drop off items from a nearby animal shelter’s wish list. Most shelter’s post their wish lists right on their website making it easy to know what you can donate.
